Weight Loss Pills
The Benefits of Diet Pills
Weight loss pills are very tempting things if you want to lose weight, especially if
you have tried several conventional weight loss diets without success. Maybe one
of your diet buddies has decided to buy diet pills, or maybe you've seen or
heard a commercial for diet supplements promising easy fast weight loss.
Losing weight through weight loss pills is a process that doesn't happen overnight. It is best to follow a
healthy diet and incorporate exercise into your plan to lose weight. There is no
miracle drug that can change your body unless you commit to living a healthier
lifestyle, and doing what is necessary to lose excess weight. Using weight loss
pills to shed extra pounds can be effective when used properly. The directions
on the bottle should be followed to the letter, and never abused.
Weight loss pills can be divided into two types: prescription-only diet pills
and over-the-counter (otc) diet pills.
Prescription weight loss pills are diet drugs. These pills are regulated by the
Food and Drug Administration agency (FDA), their side effects are monitored and
they may be advertised and prescribed for weight loss under certain condition
and in certain pill-dosages.
Over-the-Counter weight loss pills are the fastest growing sector of the weight
loss industry. These diet pills are classified as food supplements rather than
diet drugs, and are relatively unregulated. These diet pills are not tested by
Federal authorities, not subject to the same advertising, dosage or labeling
requirements as prescription diet pills, even though some experts consider that
many OTC diet supplements and weight loss pills are diet drugs.
Another public mistake is the belief that because they're sold in stores
legally, they must be safe. The manufacturers often put the words "herbal" or
"natural" on the labels to further propagate this mistaken belief. Herbal diet
pills tend not to make a massive difference to how much weight you can lose, but
rather help you by providing that little bit of extra psychological motivation
and taking the edge off your appetite. Doctor recommended diet pills are far
more effective, because their active ingredients are stronger and they have been
thoroughly tested. They are, however, not guaranteed to help.
Make sure you have familiarized yourself with the ingredients contained in the
product. Check with a doctor before taking weight loss pills if you have a
medical condition. Drink as much water a day as you can handle. Six to eight
glasses a day should suffice. Water flushes out the impurities in the body and
can act as an appetite suppressant. Drinking an eight ounce glass of water one
hour before a meal will help you to eat less and feel just as full.
Do not exceed the daily recommended dosage, doing so will not make you lose
weight any faster it will just upset the balance required to lose weight. Do not
stop eating while you are taking weight loss pills. You may find your appetite
will decrease however it is important to eat healthy foods that give you energy.
Keep in mind that water retention can cause temporary weight gain which may
disappear the next day, depending on what you have eaten.
