Diet Products to Lose Weight
The diet product business in the US is a multi-billion-dollar industry based on our
epidemic of obesity and our fears about never measuring up to a certain (usually
impossible) ideal. Unscrupulous marketers will always find a way to push
questionable products by preying on the hopes and fears of people who are
unhappy with they way they look or feel.
If you are looking to experience fat loss, make sure you incorporate a weight
loss product that has the ability to speed up your metabolism, balance your
insulin and glucose levels, and supresses your appetite.
Diet products in fact come in all shapes and sizes. You will readily find
everything from pills and supplements, diet books, exercise tapes, diet foods,
and so much more. You can find a great selection of diet products at most health
food stores, but also in many other locations.
Depending on what your weight loss goals are (i.e. how much you want to lose)
the type of diet products you use will vary. If you're looking for long term
weight loss, or a more lifestyle change approach to weight loss, then you will
want long term diet products. You won't be looking at so-called 48 hour
"celebrity" diets, and ephedra based "fat burners" that, quite frankly, may not
be that good for you.
Not all diet products are designed for the short term however. There are some
diet products out there that really are just healthy ways to make your eating
habits more nutritious and body safe. For instance, you can find great sugar
free sweets, even chocolate, that will make little indulgences a lot healthier.
You should definitely do your homework on the ingredients of any of the "diet"
products you plan to eat or drink. If the supplier can't or won't tell you
what's in it, you shouldn't buy it or consume it. Some products contain
ingredients that have not been proven effective and might even be harmful. You
should also ask for scientific evidence of effectiveness, such as results
published in a scientific journal. "Evidence" provided only by testimonials is
suspect.
All dietitians and other weight loss experts will emphasize the important point
that weight loss product pills are NOT a magic solution to weight control. In order to
lose weight successfully, without regain, you must combine weight loss
supplements with a sensible diet and exercise program. In fact, if you check the
literature accompanying most weight loss supplements, it often states that that
effective weight loss or sustained weight control is not possible by taking the
weight loss pills by themselves. If you don't see that recommendation be very
leery of the product.
