Breaking a habit is hard to do..

Losing weight isn't all about exercising, eating is a big part of it. This article will give you some tips to eliminate your bad eating behaviors.

1. It's important to eat slowly. If you eat quickly, you don't give your brain a long enough time to realize that your stomach is actually full. Plus, chewing your food thoroughly will help your digestive system as well. Make your teeth do the work instead of your intestines.

To help you slow down while you eat, try drinking plenty of water during your meal. Also, put your fork down after every bite and don't pick it up again until you're ready to take in another bite. Something else that helps is eating with someone and engaging them in conversation while you eat.

Another good tip to help you eat slower is to wait at least ten minutes after having your main course meal before deciding whether or not to order a dessert. After waiting for ten minutes, you may no longer feel hungry.

2. Don't over-eat. This tip is real simple yet is often forgotten. When going to a restaurant, instead of ordering two meals for you and your partner, see if you can order just one meal and then share it amongst each other. It cuts down on the bill and your stomach as well.

Another tip to help you from over-eating is to not eat directly from the food packages. If you're going to have Doritos, put some on a paper towel or a plate and then you can eat those separately. This way, you won't continue to eat them out of the bag because before you know it - you've eaten half the bag.

3. Eat only at the kitchen table. Over-eating tends to happen if you're eating while watching a movie or the news. It's very hard to keep track of how much you've eaten if you're not concentrating on your food. You may find that half an hour later, you're still eating even though you are no longer hungry.

If you're eating out at a friends or relatives house, don't worry about finishing everything. People will not be offended if you do not finish their food. If anything, ask for a light serving and then if you want seconds you can ask for them. Do not overeat out of politeness.

Don't be concerned if you can't seem to learn how to eat the right way, right away. Breaking a bad habit is a hard thing to do, but with practice and at least being aware of what your bad eating habits are, you can take simple small steps to help the problem.
